![]() I had pretty good success with dash in, hit hit hit, dash/jump out, repeat. So for your melee guy you ought to be doing chains of normal attack, tech tech tech, then jumping or blocking away, and repeating the process. ![]() Feel free to look up a FAQ on EX Gems, or just randomly experiment - it's cool. There are some EX Gems which let you fiddle with this (for example, do Techs in any order without breaking combo) but that's on a per-character basis. (Or an L2->元 whatever) and you can deal an unbroken string of damage in melee. If you really want to deal maximum damage in a chain, use three normal hits comboing into a Level 1, then a Level 2, then a Level 3 tech. In some places, say where the only element enemies are weak to is Fire, I'd disable _every_ offensive magic spell except Fire for my spellcaster so he only popped off the right spell.īasically if you set up your casting list and the AI they're relatively self-sufficient.įor you, keep in mind two things about the techs you have selected: You can chain them. Random status effect ones or spells you'll only use in certain situations, _turn them off._ You can cast them manually at any time, so you don't lose out. "Attack Freely" / "Keep Reserve" worked pretty well for me for most of the game, but you may want them to hold more TP (early in the game I did, as I kept going it was less of an issue)īasically what this meant is I'd be a melee character and charge in, any other melee characters would charge in, and my magicians would try and stay back and plaster the enemy with magic or my party with healing spells.Īnother thing: For your magicians (or even melee guys) you can disable the AI auto-casting stupid spells. Move your AI magicians to the far rear of the combat grid (heal or attack) to "L-Range Magic" and however much TP you want to use. That'd be the right of the screen in this case. Set your AI melee characters to "Attack At Once" or "Attack Freely" (most melee characters are alright with Attack Freely, however two of them try and cast spells all the time when I wanted them slashing with swords, so experiment) and move them to the far front of the combat grid (Frontlines, I think it's called). If you're controlling a magician character, you may want to bind some of your own spells here so you have ready access to a larger variety without pause->menu->cast. Bind a healing and an offensive spell here that you'll be using say if Fire is the elemental weakness of your current dungeon, use a Fire spell. You can basically get 2 spells or techs (it's a waste on techs heh) on demand quickly from teammates here. I'm going to assume you'll be controlling Lloyd, Kratos, or some similar direct damage dealing character:įirst, the C-Stick. Should I be on 'full manual' control as opposed to semi-auto? Not mine, I stuck with Lloyd and only gave orders to the others. Should I be swapping between them during combat? But don't neglect your own guy! Remember, it's the first / top guy that you control - you don't need to control the swordsman when you have other party members. The rest of the time I let them attack on their own, doing items or specific commands when possible. I tend to mash the command button to direct healing or specific attacks. How closely should I be watching other team members? ![]() For me, it wasn't until I beat it the first time that I really had a grasp on things - SIXTY hours in! The second time around is going much smoother. It'll take practice to learn how to use them most effectively. You can edit those before battle and also during battle with the menu screen. Your buddies are almost completely autonomous - but you can issue commands in battle to them with the C stick and D-pad.
